2013 in review

In Uncategorized on March 3, 2014 at 9:48 am

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 690 times in 2013. If it were a cable car, it would take about 12 trips to carry that many people.

One Year of Art, a book

In Uncategorized on December 24, 2012 at 4:31 pm

I am working on setting up my year in Art in a book format.   Here’s the link: (no longer active).  I’m still working on it and I’m looking for feedback on specific things:

1. that you can actually view the book and flip the pages
2. that the brief message I am trying to share is communicated, that is: this is one of the ways in which you can work through a period of time to do something you’ve had difficulty doing.
3. that the structure of the book is friendly and feels familiar (like a book)
4. things that work, things that don’t work, things that can be improved.

Instructions to open:

  1. Click on the link: (no longer active)
  2. The link will take you to a Google page, you will see a link that says: Download. If you click on it, the book will open.
  3. Once the book is open you can use the arrow keys to flip the pages or click on the upper or bottom corner of the page you want to flip.

Feel free to reply to this post with your feedback or to send me an email at myhappyhats @ gmail . com.  Thank you very much for your time if you assist me in reviewing it.

Posts that caught my eye

In Uncategorized on May 18, 2012 at 12:38 pm

There are so many great posts out there from people sharing something they value.  I thought I would share the bright posts that caught my eye, that I clicked on and enjoyed.  Have fun!

Oil Paintings that Glow in A Dash of Noir by Amanda Pants.  Amanda introduces us to the work of Leonid Afremov.  I agree with Amanda.  The colors he uses are spectacular.  Check out her post.

Wind-A-Ma-Jig in AnaElisa by Ana Elisa Fuentes.  The photo she posted of this “Wind-A-Ma-Jig” kinetic sculpture is really cool.  Check out her post.

Photo reference in War Brothers: The Graphic Novel by Daniel LaFrance.  This is awesome.  Being how I’m interested in creating short stories with illustrations this example of the background process of how a graphic novel panel is done is neat to see.  Check it out.

ClancyToy’s Series in Christopher.Clancy by Christopher Clancy.  These are incredible sculptures.  I particularly like the LobsterMan.  Check them out.

Goals: Getting my driver’s license

In Uncategorized on May 12, 2012 at 10:29 am

My goal was to get it by May 11th.  I got it!  Now, there’s a catch.  I got it with restrictions.  I cannot drive unless a person older than 21 and with a valid driver’s license is sitting with me.  So, my next goal is to remove the restrictions and that will be hopefully by the end of June.

Baby steps, right? As long as I continue moving forward.  That’s what counts.
